By the time I had drawn the second comic I realized that a plain white background just wasn't good enough for me and I needed to make it a bit more artistically appealing. Behold! The ground! The sky! And a... rose? I clearly went all out! Still hadn't figured out the eyes though... man those are creepy eyes.
As for the joke, this just randomly popped into my head one day and I thought it would be funny... sometimes I worry about myself.
